Data Science & Insights Team

The team turns massive data sets into actionable insights to deliver business value and improve decision‑making across the organization.

What you’ll do

  • Understand business challenges and help leadership make data‑driven decisions by analyzing and combining data across multiple sources. Distill complex analytical concepts for broader audiences and influence decision making through a data story.
  • Provide analysis, insights, reports, and actionable recommendations to optimize advertiser performance and product development through a client‑centric lens. Build and maintain dashboards and reports.
  • Serve as a thought leader, offering insights on vertical or category industry trends to inform Snap’s in‑market pitch. Identify revenue‑impacting projects, define scope and objectives, and propose courses of action.
  • Identify performance trends across auction campaigns and fuel optimization recommendations; evangelize best practices across the account management group.
  • Design, build, and maintain data structures to facilitate reporting and monitor key performance indicators. Investigate changes in key metrics for products.
  • Develop and maintain ETL routines using ETL and orchestration tools such as Airflow; tune SQL and ETL as necessary; perform and report results from AB experiments.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Creative Strategy, Marketing Science, and Product Solutions to ensure campaigns run optimally and adapt to new findings.
  • Build solutions with high technical standards and best practices, including writing high‑quality SQL and building dashboards using Looker and Tableau.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in analytics, data science, information systems, computer science, business, marketing, communications, economics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of post‑Bachelor’s experience in an analytical field; or Master’s degree + 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of work experience using SQL.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling and data normalization.
  • Expertise in data exploration/visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, Chartio, etc.
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical reasoning.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • 2+ years of experience with workflow management tools (Airflow, Oozie, Azkaban, UC4).
  • Experience defining, implementing, and analyzing A/B and multivariate experiments.
  • Experience supporting a sales‑facing environment with insights.

Compensation

In the United States, pay zones determine salary ranges. The starting pay is based on skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions and may be negotiable within the range. Pay zones may be modified in the future.

  • Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): $118,000–$176,000
  • Zone B: $112,000–$167,000
  • Zone C: $100,000–$150,000

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
