Waymo is hiring: Lease Accounting Analyst in San Francisco

The Finance and Accounting group manages all aspects of Waymo’s finances, partnering with business units on financial analyses, capital strategies, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and interpret complex lease contracts to determine proper accounting treatment under US GAAP (ASC 842)
• Execute and manage the complete accounting process for Waymo’s leasing assets, ensuring full compliance with ASC 842
• Review related leasehold improvements and other assets to ensure correct accounting treatment is consistently applied
• Lead the month-end and quarter-end lease accounting close, including preparing balance sheet rollforwards, supporting schedules, footnotes, and disclosures
• Perform monthly and quarterly flux analysis and financial analytics on lease and related fixed assets balances, developing detailed reporting packages for leadership
• Identify opportunities to automate workflows for efficiency and accuracy, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams (e.g., FP&A, Legal, Real Estate) to provide financial support

Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• 4+ years of experience in a public accounting firm
• 2+ years of experience at a Big 4 firm, CPA
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and handle ambiguity
• Detail‑oriented, strong analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience in technical accounting research and documentation
• Experience in the tech industry or lease accounting and implementation under ASC 842
• Proficiency or direct experience with specialized lease accounting software (e.g., Tririga, CoStar, or similar in-house systems)
• Experience with SAP Cloud
• Proven ability to work in a cross‑functional, fast‑paced environment, and to lead and drive complex initiatives

Travel

• 1-2 trips per year (2-3 days)

The expected base salary range for this full‑time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job‑related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
