About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Development for Athletics. The successful candidate will be the primary professional responsible for engaging with alumni, parents, friends, foundations, and corporations to secure contributions. This role involves leading a comprehensive development program, including the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. The Executive Director will also be tasked with managing capital campaigns, and major gift cultivation, and ensuring compliance with established policies and best practices. A key aspect of the position is to prepare the Athletic Director and academic leaders for active participation in development activities and prospect appointments.
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years' of professional experience in development, with at least 4 years' in direct fundraising. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record in major gift fundraising, marketing, or planned giving, and the ability to manage a large, complex program with annual and multi-year goals. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of prospect management systems, fiscal administration, and volunteer development, as well as a strong understanding of the financial structure of donations. Experience in record-keeping, accounting principles, and budgeting is also essential. The Executive Director will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, and to foster successful relationships with donors and alumni.
