B.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related scientific field strongly preferred. 5–7 years overall work experience in an engineering role (internships/co-ops may count). Knowledge of aircraft certification processes and substantiation techniques. Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office programs. Familiarity with aircraft mechanical/structural design processes, materials, fabrication methods, and aerospace hardware. Organized, effective individual contributor with strong communication skills and professional presence. Preferred: Knowledge of aircraft interiors. Experience as a certification engineer, design engineer, or substantiation engineer. Responsibilities Develop certification plans, compliance checklists, and conformity inspection plans. Prepare substantiation reports and test plans/reports for flammability and cabin safety. Draft certification presentations for meetings and manage small STC/PMA projects, including supplier data deliverables and responses to inquiries or certification concerns. Identify applicable airworthiness requirements for proposed major design changes. Support regulatory relationships with FAA agencies via project presentations. Interface with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders regarding certification of modification projects.
