Job Description
As the Senior Accounting Manager, you will report to a multi-regional leader and work with minimal oversight. You will oversee a team responsible for managing various accounting functions, typically across multiple countries and legal entities, including ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue and asset accounting, as well as associated analysis and reporting. This role will be involved in the development and implementation of new systems and in implementing best practices across the organization. The Senior Manager will lead and direct accounting professionals and serve as a transformational leader, ensuring that the organization is following best-in-class digital solutions. This role will be responsible for creating a successful team and departmental strategy, including guiding talent identification and development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead variable compensation and payroll accounting team within controllership, ensure all activities are completed timely and accurately
- Oversee all variable compensation programs which include sales commissions and management incentive plans across multiple systems
- Oversee North America accounting processes related to Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables
- Lead business transformation projects which include implementation of new commission tool across the organization. Support additional business transformation activities by establishing future state processes, documentation, performance measurements and controls
- Oversee all accounting related activities under responsibilities which includes, month-end and quarter end activities, GL account reconciliations, period over period analysis and support external audit
- Partner with key stakeholders within Controllership, FP&A and HR to achieve overall company objectives
- Review and direct account analysis and controls, recommend and implement corrective action to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Oversee effective controls of balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Recruit, manage, evaluate, and develop professional and supervisory accounting staff
- Maximize efficiency and productivity through setting goals for the function, cascading these to all employees, managing execution, and measuring results
- Identify and lead the decision-making process to resolve complex and sensitive challenges to the function, through innovation, with careful consideration of company culture and the wider impact of any change
- Take lead in project finance, control, and operation matters
- Develop strategic and operational plans to achieve results and ensure alignment with company goals and objectives
- Serve as a leader of global implementation of new systems and processes including systems readiness testing, risk identification and mitigation. Also support multi-year accounting systems transformation initiatives by participating in global process design sessions and systems implementation
- Drive continuous process improvements which includes standardizing, automating, enhancing processes, and ensuring key business owners are provided quality information efficiently
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree - Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Masters Degree preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience required
- 4 years required, 6 years preferred of management of non-exempt and exempt employees
- 5+ of in-depth experience using one or more large, integrated financial management/accounting systems, such as Oracle, SAP, or equivalent is preferred
- 2 years of experience designing and implementing a Financial System preferredKnowledge of GAAP, financial statements, internal controls and SOX requirements
- Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
- Ability to work under tight time schedules and to handle multiple tasks
- Able to adapt to new responsibilities with an agile mindset
- Strong general business and project management skills
- Ability to build and lead strong business relationships with other functional areas to best support mutual objectives
- Ability to analyze complex strategic issues and provide recommendations
- Ability to apply professional principles and business judgement to solve problems
- Ability to influence outcomes and broad processes beyond individual function
- Ability to spot key risks upfront and mitigate
- Ability to bring quick focus to key issues and priorities
- Advanced knowledge of accounting processes and techniques

- Compensation Details $122,328 - $214,074 Annually
This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan,subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
