$20 - $27 hourly
Job Description The archaeologist field technician will perform archaeological field work, lab work, or GIS work under the direction and supervision of the Senior Archaeologist. They will excavate shovel test pits, excavation units, block excavations, conduct site documentation, identify and analyze artifacts, features and perform mapping.
Responsibilities
Walk up to 5 miles per day
Identify historic and pre-contact artifacts
Travel as required
Use GPS unit
Lift up to 25 pounds
Work hours outside 8–5, including weekends and/or night shifts
Conduct archaeological surveys and testing
Perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures)
Requirements
Valid Driver's License
Good organizational skills, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks
Familiarity with Phase I, II, and/or III work
Minimum of three months of field experience (survey, testing, and data recovery)
Experience identifying and recording prehistoric resources
Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History, or a closely related field
