Description:

The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice is a multi‑faceted agency that serves juveniles of the Commonwealth. Responsibilities

Plan, develop, recommend, and administer a major program area—juvenile re‑entry programming on a statewide basis.

Develop policies and procedures regarding juvenile re‑entry, collaborate with agency and stakeholders, and collect and analyze data to produce reports.

Develop, implement, and enforce policies related to juvenile re‑entry, create individual youth case plans, and conduct screenings to identify youth needs.

Prepare and recommend approval of departmental documentation and program forms in collaboration with agency stakeholders and workgroups.

Attend youth multi‑disciplinary team meetings, conduct program monitoring, and provide continued case support to youth and families in conjunction with aftercare services.

Provide technical assistance statewide regarding data collection and dissemination; conduct policy research analysis and compile relevant data on youth and programming.

Report on the impact of legislative, financial, and policy changes for programming to DJJ Executive Staff as needed.

Complete and/or participate in special projects for division director and managers as needed; attend workgroups, committees, training, and meetings as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience, Training, or Skills:

Four years of professional experience in any operation or program within corrections, juvenile justice, criminal justice, law enforcement, recreation, academic or vocational education, health services, construction project management, social work, or a related field.

Substitute Education for Experience:

A master’s degree substitutes for one year of the required experience.

Substitute Experience for Education:

Additional experience in related fields substitutes for education on a year‑for‑year basis.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically performed in an office setting.

Probationary Period:

Initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
