WINTER SEASONAL LABORER

FULL TIME Seasonal / Non-Exempt, Non-Union

Responsibilities

Assist in the snow removal of City Schools and City Park grounds/sidewalks, City streets, City owned buildings, and property as needed. Plow, salt, sand, blow snow, and shovel. Work twelve (12)+ hour shifts during snow events as required. Perform general maintenance of grounds and other duties as assigned. Maintain clean, organized work areas and securely store equipment and supplies. Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Snow plowing experience desiredli> Familiarity with grounds‑keeping/landscaping tools and snow removal equipment preferred. Ability to bend, kneel, squat, stand, push, and lift heavy objects as needed. Ability to interact with people on an upbeat and friendly basis, regardless of circumstances. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Working Conditions

The incumbent works in various dynamic municipal buildings and locations. While performing the duties of Seasonal Laborer the incumbent is required to interact and communicate frequently with public, government officials, other staff members, boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City. Frequent periods of outside work may be entailed.

Physical Requirements

Agility sufficient to operate equipment and supplies used for landscaping and general grounds maintenance; walk long distances over uneven terrain; lift up to 50 pounds from the ground to shoulder height; generally perform heavy labor.

Hours

Monday - Friday, 40 Hours per week.

Salary

Starting rate $17.99 - $19.18 per hour. Annual increases up to $23.37 per hour.
