Brooklyn, NY – Youth Peer Advocate (Behavioral Technician)
Job Overview
Sunshine Care Network, a division of Clinical Staffing Resources, is seeking dedicated Youth Peer Advocates to provide support, guidance, and advocacy to young individuals experiencing challenges similar to their own. The role is part‑time (20‑25 hours per week) after school, nights and weekends, and will be based in Brooklyn, NY, serving clients across the five boroughs of NY as well as Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties.
Compensation
Hourly rate: $20–$24 per hour, depending on experience and case load.
Responsibilities
Provide structured, strength‑based relationships with youth and their families.
Meet youth in the office, at home or in the community as requested.
Connect youth to community resources and services.
Offer mutual support, hope, and advocacy, sharing personal recovery/resiliency stories as appropriate.
Facilitate meetings and act as advocate and mentor.
Assist in navigating the service system, including engagement and bridging during transitions in care and developing skills for independent navigation.
Document demographic data, services provided and progress toward goals in an electronic database.
Complete all documentation—case records, time sheets, mileage forms and expense reports—under agency policy and funding regulations.
Participate in agency quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
High school diploma plus at least two yearsThis piece of content? Should be "High school diploma plus at least two years of experience working directly with children and youth."
Good verbal, written and computer skills.
Valid NYS driver’s license, safe driving history, and reliable vehicle that is properly insured and registered in accordance with NYS DMV regulations.
Clearances from the Child Abuse Registry and Criminal History Information Tracking System.
