Job Description Summary The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting the various departments in assuring that the requirements of the customer(s) and quality management system are being met throughout each department. The QT contributes to the continuous improvement and quality efforts of MI Metals.
Responsibilities
Trains motivates team members to achieve desired awareness of quality management system and procedures, work instructions, processes and help ensure employees adherence to those standards.
Prepare test samples for Tensile testing. Perform tensile test and document results per customer requirements.
Perform and/or Review First Article Inspections (FAI’s) using hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
Perform dimensional inspection layouts using Keyence vision system.
Dock Audits to be performed daily.
Coordinates and performs quality audits and reports findings to the appropriate personnel.
Identify areas for improvement in quality control processes.
Ensuring test equipment and tools are calibrated and working correctly.
Assists with investigations for root causes and corrective actions.
Maintains all internal calibrations.
Perform process audits on a regular basis per deployed schedule.
Report non-conformance issues to proper personnel; communicate with various personnel issues relating to quality.
Support quality projects as needed or required.
Attend meetings as required.
Maintain a clean and safe environment.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, One Note, Teams, and other software programs such as ERP systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization and ability to train.
Must be competent in the use of measuring instruments such as (calipers, micrometers, tape measure, webster).
Knowledge of or the ability to learn testing and measuring equipment (Instron (tensile testing) and Keyence (measurements).
Ability to accurately read, interpret and explain blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications and standards.
Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
2 -4 years of related experience preferred.
ASQ Certificates Desired: CQT (Quality Technician) CQA (Quality Auditor), preferred.
Dependable to adhere to schedule with prompt punctuality and excellent attendance.
