Experienced Miner- Miner 3 and Miner 4 (East Tennessee Mines)
THE ROLE
The purpose of this job is to safely and efficiently advance capital and secondary development waste at the Nyrstar Tennessee Mine operation. The Experienced Miner must be able to perform a minimum of two of the following mining tasks: truck driver, supply hauler/nipper, chute puller, dispatcher, crusher operator, skip tender, Hoist man, grader, explosives handler, loader, mine repairman (utilities).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Performs pre-shift checks of equipment
Conducts ongoing workplace inspections
Assists with wetting and hand-scaling after blasting
Follows correct loading proceduresFollows correct dumping procedures
Follows all MSHA and Nyrstar safety procedures
Understands the effects of poorly prepared surfaces on tires
Promote and demonstrate safe behavior at all times
Demonstrated competence in coaching, mentoring and providing feedback to team members
Good time management and prioritization skills
Works unsupervised or with limited supervision
Transports operation supplies including explosives within the mine
Handles loads of varying sizes and weights
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Required minimum of 2-3 years’ experience of mining
Required experience in construction and/or using mining heavy equipment
Required knowledge of mining regulation and statutory responsibilities
Preferred experience in mine specific equipment
