Job Summary
The Medical Office Registered Nurse (RN) prepares and assists physicians or advance practice providers in the examination and treatment of patients in the medical office. The RN performs patient assessment and triage, arranges diagnostic testing and hospital admissions, administers patient medication, and performs diagnostic testing in the medical office setting. The RN also works as part of the team in maintaining exam rooms and supplies and providing exceptional customer service.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare patients for physician examination, including gathering assessment information, measuring and recording vital signs, and accurately documenting the data in patient charts.
Perform telephone triage, communicate and adjudicate physician/provider orders, and provide legible documented actions in the patient record.
Perform phlebotomy, administer injections, immunizations and other procedures while following infection control principles.
Provide follow‑up care, arranging diagnostic testing, specialist appointments, hospital admissions, etc.
Perform Quality Assurance functions to meet regulatory requirements.
Maintain waiting areas, examination rooms, equipment and supplies; attend scheduled department meetings and stay current on organizational communications.
Perform laboratory testing in compliance with policies and CLIA requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
Associate of Science degree in nursing (minimum).
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
Experience Requirements
Previous patient care experience (minimum).
One (1) year prior medical office experience in OB/GYN (preferred).
License / Certification Requirements
Registered Nurse license in good standing in Indiana by hire date.
Basic Life Support (American Heart Association).
