Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Technician I City of Smyrna Police Department is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Technician I. This full‑time position offers a yearly salary that begins at $52,881.38, with eligibility for an annual performance bonus and a longevity bonus. Two vacancies are available.

Responsibilities

Trains to operate and maintain all water treatment plant equipment as directed by maintenance supervisor and/or manager.

Trains to perform maintenance of equipment related to maintenance of the water treatment plant and pump stations, including calibration of feeders and instruments, and repair of feeders, pumps, motors, hoists, backflow preventers, valves, and other treatment equipment.

Trains to perform maintenance of equipment related to maintenance of distribution booster stations and water tanks.

Trains to view, understand, and maintain Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system.

Enter and update files on computer for preparing reports, spreadsheets, historical information, maintenance records and letters as directed.

Maintain sanitary cleanliness of work areas, the treatment plant, and associated facilities. Re‑build and/or check valves, pumps, motors, hoists, feeders, etc.

Maintain records in compliance to Federal, State, and City regulations cooler

Works safely, observing all OSHA, Federal, State, and City regulations. Reports any accidents immediately to supervisor.

Correctly wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required.

Conduct behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on the Town of Smyrna.

Promote a teamwork environment. Assist coworkers when necessary.

Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Provide coverage in the absence of other personnel in maintenance and operations.

Perform duties as required by the maintenance supervisor, assistant manager or manager.

May have to work after hours in emergency situations.

Must maintain a city cell phone and be available for on‑call 24/7. Must be able to respond to plant emergencies within 20 minutes.

Help maintain the cleanliness of machines, cadeira? work area and facility. Report incidents, or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.

Must obtain Tennessee Grade 2 Distribution Systems Certification and Tennessee Grade III Water Treatment Operators Certification within 36 months of date of hire.

Must obtain Tennessee Grade IV Water Treatment Operators Certification within 48 months of date of hire.

Must obtain a Tennessee CDL License within 12 months.

Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.

Must be able to wear mandatory safety equipment (self‑contained breathing apparatus, respirator).
