Second Shift Dietary Supervisor Join Our Team at Hickory Falls Health and Rehab! As the Second Shift Dietary Supervisor, you oversee dietary operations during the evening shift in a skilled nursing facility. You ensure meals are prepared and served safely, timely, and in accordance with residents’ dietary needs, physician orders, and regulatory requirements. You provide leadership to dietary staff, maintain sanitation and safety standards, and support high-quality resident care and satisfaction.

Shift Second Shift: Monday – Friday, 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and direct dietary staff during second shift operations.

Assign duties, monitor performance, and provide guidance and coaching.

Ensure adequate staffing and assist with coverage as needed.

Promote teamwork and a positive work environment.

Oversee preparation, portioning, and service of meals and snacks.

Ensure meals meet residents’ prescribed diets, preferences, and cultural needs.

Address resident concerns or complaints related to food service promptly and professionally.

Ensure accuracy of tray line and delivery.

Enforce proper food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS and health department standards.

Monitor temperatures, cleaning schedules, and documentation.

Prepare for and support inspections and audits during shift hours.

Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding diet changes, allergies, and resident needs.

Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports as required.

Report equipment issues, supply needs, and staffing concerns to management.

Assist with training and onboarding of new dietary employees.

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare or long‑term care setting.

Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and basic nutrition.

Ability to supervise staff and manage multiple tasks.

Preferred:

Prior supervisory or lead experience.

Experience in a skilled nursing facility or long‑term care environment.

ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification (or willingness to obtain).

Compassionate, resident-focused approach.

Work Environment

Fast‑paced healthcare food service setting.

Exposure to kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
