Overview
The Paramedic responds_ie to emergency and non‑emergency ambulance requests. Has assigned daily and weekly duties, such as cleaning of ambulances and medi‑v TSR as well as providing directions and leadership to EMT on calls that require Advanced Life Support.
Qualifications
ICS‑100: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months - FEMA
Licensed Paramedic – Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)
ICS‑800: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months - FEMA
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA)
ICS‑200: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months - FEMA
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year – American Heart Association (AHA)
Hazardous Materials Awareness (HazMat) within 6 months – FEMA
ICS‑700: National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 6 months – FEMA
Basic Life Support (BLS) within

Work Experience: Driving
Responsibilities
Responds to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the ill and injured.
Checks and monitors ambulance readiness.
Cleans ambulances sɛ utility vehicles and crew quarters daily.
Clearly communicates crew and vehicle position at all times.
Provides direction to EMTs while on ambulance calls.
Transports patients in the wheelchair van when needed.
Manages care of patients during transport to the hospital.
Assesses blood glucose and provides treatment when necessary.
Monitors heart rhythms, interprets 12‑lead ECG and provides ACLS management when necessary.
Performs CPR.
Administers medications through multiple routes (IV, IO, IM, SC, IN).
Intubates adult and pediatric patients.
Manages airway during transport.
Assists in childbirth outside the hospital.
Manages care of mother and baby.

Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $21.25 per hour – $35.49 per hour. This represents a good‑faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
