Job Summary The Clinician I will assess and deliver quality mental health care to youth and family in community, home, school, or residential settings under appropriate supervision.

Essential Job Functions

Assist the Clinical team in the assessment of Hillside youth and family needs through clinical interventions to treat and achieve positive outcomes.

Create, implement, evaluate, and modify individual treatment plans to meet assessed client’s unique needs as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team.

Assess and facilitate referrals to Hillside services and resources provided by the treatment team.

Provide individual and group therapy, as well as family therapy, based on client needs.

Collaborate with other informal supports, community, and mental health providers to provide needed services to clients.

Develop, maintain, and retain all required documentation in a compliant and timely manner including, but not limited to, clinical assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.

Act as the primary contact for the treatment plan for youth being treated.

May provide transportation for youth as needed to appointments, meetings, or appearances.

Ensure Hillside policies, procedures and all applicable governmental laws/regulations/guidelines are followed.

Youth ACT and Therapeutic Foster Care programs: On‑call responsibilities as scheduled.

While this job description covers many aspects of the role, employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Clinician I: Education & Experience

Master’s degree required.

Must be license eligible.

Clinician I: Special Requirements

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT).

If not licensed, obtain a limited permit upon hire and successfully pass licensing exam by the end of permit period.

Unrestricted, valid NYS driver’s license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record and minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards.

Ability and willingness to travel.

Residential Treatment Facilities, Children’s Health and Behavioral Health Services and Youth ACT programs: CPR certification required or obtained within 60 days of hire.

Clinician II: Education & Experience

Master’s degree required.

Minimum 3 years of clinical experience post Graduate‑degree is required.

Residential Treatment Facilities Family Therapy programs: Previous family experience strongly preferred.

Clinician II: Special Requirements

Active, unrestricted license in NYS required for one of the following: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT).

Other Licensed Professional is required to have an active, unrestricted license in NYS for at least one of the following: Licensed Psychoanalyst, Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

Unrestricted, valid NYS driver’s license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record and minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards.

Ability and willingness to travel.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to assess and treat youth and families.

Advocate for children/youth/families to achieve the best possible outcomes; communicate reasonable expectations and facilitate the achievement of results.

Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards of conduct towards all.

Demonstrate ability to utilize conflict resolution skills.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Must be able to work a variable schedule including evenings and weekends.

Occasional sitting (up to 4 hours).

Occasional standing (up to 1 hour).

Occasional walking (up to 2.5 hours).

Occasional driving (up to 6 hours).

Continuous balancing (up to 8 hours).

Occasional balancing, bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching forward or down, reaching overhead, running, and twisting (up to 2.5 hours).

Weekly lifting up to 50 lbs. (community‑based staff may be required to lift an empty wheelchair weighing up to 50 lbs.), 10‑15 lbs. on a daily basis.

Weekly carrying up to 55 lbs. approx. 10‑100 ft., 10‑15 lbs. on a daily basis.

Manual dexterity is required, including the frequent ability to grasp in both hands and continuous use of fine manipulation skills in both hands (approx. 1‑2.5 hrs.).

Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, gases or chemicals is apparent.

Protective clothing or equipment as required: Closed‑toed shoes; Protective Shields, Universal Precaution PPE, Gloves for toileting and food preparation.

Ability to change positions as needed.

$62,500 Minimum pay rate, $80,000 Maximum pay rate, based on experience.
