Residence Life Coordinator
Full‑time, 12‑month position with live‑on housing and a meal plan. The RLC administers residential areas, supervises student staff, and fosters community engagement as part of the University of Indianapolis Office of Residence Life.
Responsibilities
Provide direct supervision to Resident Assistants (RAs) and Apartment Community Assistants (ACAs).
Recruit, select, train, develop, and evaluate undergraduate and graduate student staff.
Maintain weekly staff meetings and bionclick individual meetings for staff development.
Set performance expectations and hold staff accountable to university policies.
Promote a positive team environment; identify, address, and resolve team issues.
Facilitate the Residence Life Engagement Model and develop sense of belonging.
Oversee Living Learning Communities (LLCs) and partner with faculty liaisons.
Maintain visibility and interact regularly with students.
Support students’ needs, connect them to campus resources, and collaborate with partners for well‑being.
Maintain accurate administrative records, building occupancy, key inventories, conduct management, and budget accounts.
Oversee desk operations and staff scheduling; monitor payroll.
Collaborate with Facilities, Housekeeping, or Apartment Management for community maintenance.
Assist with move‑in, break‑(JNIEnv), and move‑out processes each semester.
Use departmental databases and systems (Housing.Cloud, Maxient, Success Slate, Google Drive) for day‑to‑day operations.
Enforce residence hall, apartment, and student conduct policies; serve as hearing officer and adjudicator.
Provide on‑call support in an on‑call rotation for emergency or crisis situations.
Serve on Title IX or University Conduct Boards as needed.
Lead functional area initiatives (e.g., Student Staff Training, LLCs, Engagement Model).
Assist with departmental and divisional programmatic initiatives and summer responsibilities.
Participate in assessment and retention efforts; support data collection and strategy development.
Contribute to weekly Residence Life Professional Staff Team meetings and serve on additional university committees.
Follow guidance of supervisors, demonstrate respectful, ethical behavior, and comply with university policies.
Qualifications
Experience working with undergraduate and graduate student groups.
Supervisory experience or previous experience in a university setting.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Prerequisite: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Education, or related field.
Preferred: 1‑3 years of residence life or student leadership experience.
Preferred: Experience organizing multi‑step or long‑term projects.
