We are looking for a
Construction Project Engineer
who will play a key role in all aspects of construction administration and inspection services/testing for state (ODOT), county, and local clients. You’ll oversee and manage a wide range of roadway/bridge projects, leveraging expertise in infrastructure construction and creative problem‑solving skills while collaborating closely with municipal agencies. This role will be involved with projects through every stage of the construction process, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
Responsibilities
Participate in all aspects of construction administration and inspection services for infrastructure projects.
Perform administration and inspection services for state, county, and local clients across roadway/bridge, municipal utility, and infrastructure projects.
Work with the marketing department as a key contributor to proposal technical content.
Monitor and enforce construction standards and specifications.
Read and apply blueprints and construction documents on a variety of projects.
Travel to project sites to inspect construction and ensure contractor compliance with state specifications and plans.
Manage, coordinate, supervise, and provide technical support to technicians and inspectors conducting material testing and field inspections.
Oversee on‑site inspections such as soil compaction tests, concrete slump tests, casting cylinders for lab tests, verifying reinforcement placement, and other required tests.
Verify plan quantities and calculations against bid plans.
Prepare and maintain project records and reports.
Notify the contractor or project manager with status updates or on non‑conforming work.
Review project submittals, including CPM schedules.
Communicate with clients on deliverables.
Assist with developing project proposals and construction cost estimates.
Assist with developing/managing schedules, budgets, and quality of work.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of civil and engineering principles, reporting, analysis, and project team management.
Extensive experience in the construction industry and engineering equipment.
Ability to read blueprints accurately.
Technical skills and understanding of P&L.
Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality focus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage and train others and be a team player.
Reliability and punctuality.
Strong customer service orientation, professionalism, and relationship‑building skills.
Client‑focused and quality‑mindful approach.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
5+ years of applicable experience preferred.
2+ years of construction material inspection and testing experience is a plus.
PE licensure required.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
