Material Handling/Lift Truck Service Technician

ASCO, a family-owned company with a 65+ year legacy of exceptional service, is looking for a skilled and motivated material handling/lift truck service technician to join our Houston team. Whether you are seasoned or just beginning, we provide hands‑on training and a clear path for growth.
About the Role You will ensure customers’ equipment operates at peak performance by performing scheduled inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs. Your role requires a customer‑first attitude, teamwork across departments, and a commitment to high‑quality service.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and perform complex repairs correctly in the shop or field.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as scheduled.
Complete work orders in a timely manner.
Maintain open communication with the service manager.
Experience with the following is a plus:
Curtis Controller
Narrow Aisle
Class 1 thru 5
Warehouse Products
Cold Storage
Pneumatic / Cushion Tire Trucks
Electric Stand‑Up Rider
Electric Sit‑Down Trucks
Pneumatic Tire Diesel & LP
Order Pickers
Reach Trucks
Stackers
Pallet Trucks
Requirements
2–3 years of shop/field heavy‑equipment troubleshooting and repair experience with Technical Certifications or an Associate’s Degree.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical theories and principles.
Good written and verbal communication skills for daily reporting.
Good computer literacy for email, work orders and related software.
Ability to work within set time parameters, multi‑task, and follow procedures.
Ability to work with limited supervision and exercise independent judgment.
Ability to maintain positive working relationships and professionally manage difficult situations.
Must be able to obtain a forklift license.
Must furnish tools suitable for heavy‑equipment repair.
Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
Ability to maneuver around/crawl under equipment to conduct repairs.
Ability to work safely in all weather conditions.
Must be able to properly lift and handle heavy loads up to 55 lbs.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment visibly and audibly.
