Position Overview Kiewit Power Delivery Group is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Substation Estimator to join our team. This role involves preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for substation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and construction, with a focus on high-voltage projects.
District Overview Kiewit Power Delivery is a full-service engineering and construction solutions provider, completing projects of all sizes and complexity. Across North America, our experience spans all transmission and distribution market aspects from high-voltage overhead and underground transmission to distribution design, automation design and construction capabilities. With these broad capabilities, we operate in the electric utility, renewable energy, industrial, and oil and gas markets.
Location This position is based out of Lenexa, KS.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for substation projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive estimates.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
Review and validate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
Identify potential risks and opportunities in the estimating process.
Maintain and update historical cost data and estimating tools.
Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather information for accurate estimates.
Provide technical support and guidance to junior estimators and other team members.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating for substation projects.
Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and construction practices.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Primavera, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects is a plus.
