Shipfitter Trainee / Certification (High School Senior/Graduate 2026) – Sign‑on Bonus We are looking for 2026 high school seniors or graduates for a Shipfitter Trainee program with a $500 sign‑on bonus and a $500 relocation bonus for candidates living 50 miles or more from Newport News, VA.

Job type: Full‑time, multiple shifts, 10‑25% travel, no telework. Relocation assistance available.

Responsibilities

Complete a 3‑week (unpaid) shipfitting training program (120 hours) or provide a certificate of completion in a related field.

Fabricate and assemble steel structures of aircraft carriers and submarines.

Interpret blueprints and plans to fabricate and assemble steel components.

Use tools to measure, cut, grind, fit, align, and tack weld components.

Construct interior components such as hatches, doors, and bulkheads.

Work in various weather conditions, at extreme heights, and in small, confined spaces.

Complete overtime and shift work as required.

ぼ Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; or certificate in shipfitting or related trade (welding, plasma cutting, carpentry, etc.).

Physical ability to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, climb, lift at least 40 lbs, perform overhead work, and work in tight spaces.

Willingness to undergo background investigation and drug screen.

Clean shaven to wear a respirator.

U.S. citizenship required.

Ready to work overtime, any shift, and travel 10‑25% of the time.
