Job Summary Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic cardiology and/or vascular sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager, or director.

Essential Functions

Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, equipment operation and maintenance.

Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines.

Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information.

Works closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic exams, and functions independently in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager.

Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.

Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs, provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results, performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and ensures accurate documentation.

Positions patient, equipment, associated devices, manipulates technical factors to achieve high‑quality images for interpretation.

Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated. Comprehends bloody; adheres to Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks. Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation, applies standard precautions and personal protective equipment.

Utilizes all Orlando Health computer systems effectively and accurately.

Ensures safety of all customers, maintains accurate and precise documentation, accurately records verbal and telephone orders from physicians in the patient record.

Communicates openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team, participates in supervising student sonographers, training, and orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow and quality initiatives as a department super‑user.

Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.

Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Education/Training Graduate of an accredited school of sonography. Depending on assigned department, meets education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)ুদ guidelts.

Licensure/Certification الرأس

Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Must maintain one of the following:

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the ARDMS in fetal echocardiography;

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the ARDMS;

Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through CCI;

Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the ARDMS;

Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through CCI.

Experience Minimum of one year of experience. Able to perform routine echocardiology exams including, but not limited to, 2‑D and M‑Mode Echocardiography and/or vascular sonography exams including, but not limited to, 2‑D and M‑Mode Imaging, Color Flow and Spectral Doppler, Carotid Ultrasound, Venous Doppler Upper and Lower Extremities, and Arterial Duplex Upper and Lower Extremities. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance. Must demonstrate competency in performing at least FIVE of the following ECHO and/or Vascular exams: 3‑D, Strain, Exercise Stress Echocardiography, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography, TAVR, Mitral Clip, Complex Valve, Watchman, Post Processing, Contrast Studies, Agitated Saline Studies, Transesophageal (TEE), Surgical TEE, Complex Cardiac Shunts, Pericardiocentesis, Single Ventricle, TOF, AVC, TGA, Venous Insufficiency, Visceral, Segmental Physiology Upper Extremity, Access Grafts, Hemodialysis Access, Venous Ablation Procedures, Ultrasound Guidance, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Temporal Artery, or Transcranial Imaging.
