What Will You Do? As a Clinical Nursing Supervisor at Pine Rest, you’ll be part of a tight‑knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertise and compassion. You will interface with patients, lead unit staff on daily tasks, and act as a resource or trainer. You will participate in daily unit operations, show compassion to patients and coworkers, promote diversity, and uphold professional excellence. You will foster a sense of belonging and empowerment in a diverse workplace.

Inpatient Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Actively participate in performing duties in accordance with the organizational mission and act as a role model for other staff.

Oversee Lead Care Providers, Care Providers, RNs, Lead RNs, and Unit Coordinators.

Assess staffing needs and implement staff‑to‑patient ratios within the budgetary structure of all units; provide input to CSM and HAS Director regarding needs.

Maintain the established policies and procedures of the organization and department/unit; communicate new policies with staff and ensure compliance.

Practice stewardship in utilizing resources.

Assist in the development and act as accountable for the actualization of strategies, plans, budgets and other financial matters; lead performance‑improvement activities, customer service initiatives, and budget issues; hold staff accountable for meeting strategies, plans and budgets.

Act as liaison between patients, psychiatric techs, families, case managers, doctors, etc.

Act as first contact with authority to customers, providing information and assistance in problem‑solving.

Provide input to Clinical Service Manager and HAS Corporate Director on all issues to support policy changes.

Assume role of Clinical Service Manager and Director of Operations during these hours.

Ensure patient safety (medical and behavioral); decisions impact the liability of the organization.

Provide input into staff performance appraisals.

Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading relevant literature and attending conferences, seminars, and completing continuing education units.

Model the mission and values of the organization and present a professional image through appearance, attitudes, and behaviors; manage time and communication skills; provide spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients.

Demonstrate commitment to the Hospital and Acute Services Model of Care.

Hire and train staff to support the Hospital and Acute Services Model of Care.

Residential Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Actively demonstrate and promote the mission, values, and standards of Pine Rest, serving as a role model for staff.

Direct and support team members, delegating and coordinating staff assignments.

Function as a clinical leader, fostering staff development and professional growth.

Supervise and participate in performance improvement initiatives and customer service activities.

Monitor staffing needs for residential programs and recommend adjustments as necessary.

Assess resident care needs, develop individualized care plans with the interdisciplinary team, and continuously evaluate and update them.

Provide and coordinate nursing care for individuals and groups, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.

Educate and support residents’ families, including discharge and aftercare planning.

Document, report, and verify all required information in compliance with policies and procedures.

Identify and report any risks to resident safety to physicians, clinical managers, or the Director of Nursing.

Create a resident‑and‑visitor‑friendly environment, fostering positive relationships with coworkers, departments, and external partners.

Deliver compassionate, resident‑centered care across diverse clinical settings and populations.

Participate in the development, implementation, and review of care protocols and standards of practice.

Promote careful and efficient use of organizational resources.

Participate in onboarding and training new staff.

Uphold the mission and values of Pine Rest in professional appearance, behavior, time management, and communication.

All Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Provide care/service within the scope of holding a conviction to express Christ’s love and compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, and surrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, and promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence.

Maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in required programmatic training.

Perform other duties or functions as assigned.

What Does This Role Require? Inpatient Education/Experience

BSN required or minimum of 5 years of psychiatric nursing experience.

Current Michigan RN license required.

Must become certified in CPR by the end of New Hire Orientation: Basic Life Support for inpatient programs and CPR/AED/First Aid for all other residential positions.

Residential Education/Experience

Current Michigan RN license required.

BSN required or minimum of 5 years of psychiatric nursing experience.

Minimum of 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience at Pine Rest preferred.

Proven satisfactory clinical experience.

Must become certified in CPR by the end of New Hire Orientation: Basic Life Support for inpatient programs and CPR/AED/First Aid for residential positions.
