Job/Department Summary Under the supervision of a physician laboratory director or a senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist I (CLS I)];

Working in the university health center, the CLS I performs a wide range of moderate to highly complex clinical laboratory tests.

Responsibilities include diagnostic testing ordered by licensed practitioners (eg, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, blood tests, antibiotic sensitivity tests), specimen collection and preparation, interpretation of results, calibration and maintenance of equipment, and quality assurance in compliance with state and federal regulations, including CLIA.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or an equivalent program defined by the California Division of Laboratory Science.

Post‑secondary education, training, or experience that satisfies the competency Cameron requirements.

Licакы/Certifications

Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (required).

Preferences

Experience in a student or university health setting – preferred for candidates who have previously worked with college‑aged patients or student health centers.

Cross‑training in multiple laboratory areas (hematology, immunology, microbiology) or ability to support CLIA‑waived testing and phlebotomy when needed.

Commitment to continuous learning – demonstrated through continuing education, conferences, additional certifications, or quality improvement involvement.

Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm; Summer: Monday–Thursday 7:00 am–5:30 pm Salary Range:

$27.39 – $100.10 per hour (CSU classification)

Benefits for employees on‑campus include sick leave, vacation, and health insurance.

Applicants who are not currently employed with CSU, Chico do not receive health benefits for this appointment; eligibility for on‑campus employees will be reviewed based on current benefit status.
