About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT) The IOT provides cost‑effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise‑technology services to partner agencies so they can better serve the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT acts as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.

Role Overview The IT Field Technology Manager oversees project coordination and issue resolution to support the desktop technology team across Northern Indiana, manages staffing, coverage planning, time approvals, and performance evaluations, and ensures all counties meet SLA standards. The role also allocates and coordinates field resources, works primarily in Northern Indiana with occasional trips to Indianapolis or other regions.

Salary The starting salary is $93,002 and may increase with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life

Assist the IT Director in developing current and long‑range technology direction.

Assist the IT Director in setting policies, procedures, technical standards, and priorities.

Assume director’s responsibilities in their absence.

Dispense technical advice, guidance, and direction for major plans.

Analyze new technologies and make recommendations.

Assist the executive team in the budgeting process.

Continuously improve operations, reduce turnaround times, and streamline processes.

Monitor time and dollar expenditures to meet project and budget targets.

Represent the IT division at events and meetings.

Coordinate, review, and analyze proposals for IT/security projects.

Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees.

Set expectations, measure progress, provide feedback, and evaluate employee performance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 1+ year experience in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or

Associate’s degree and 3+ years experience in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or

5+ years of relevant IT experience with applicable knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Extensive knowledge of IT, information security, project management, and business management.

Ability to bridge technology and business goals.

Broad knowledge of all IT disciplines and general business theory.

Understanding of state government organization and management.

Ability to negotiate complex agreements with agencies and vendors.

Effective communication skills.

Ability to frame issues around policy implications.

Ability to delegate, set direction, and manage workflow.

Ability to give feedback, coach, and develop employee skill sets.

Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities This role may supervise one or more staff members.
