Registered Nurse RN NICU – Banner Health Location: Tucson, Arizona

Department: Neonatal ICU (NICU) T2 D4N-Hosp

Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM.monitor) 3×12‑hour schedule with self‑scheduling tool.

Employment: Full‑time, Associate Seniority Level, Health Care Provider function.

Position Summary This role assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of critically ill and premature infants in accordance with institutional policies and professional nursing standards. The nurse is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by themselves or by others under their direction, employing specialized knowledge to tailor care to each infant’s developmental stage.

Core Functions

Assess patients’ physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review patient history and diagnostic data and report abnormal results to physicians and other appropriate caregivers.

Formulate individualized care plans with realistic, measurable goals, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.

Implement care through direct patient contact, delegation, and supervision of nursing staff, ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Evaluate patient and family response to care, revise care plans as needed, and document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record.

Provide evidence‑based care and participate in research, unit or facility shared leadership, and mentoring of colleagues.

Contribute to improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, engaging in professional organizations.

Supervise staff and workflow when required and communicate with all levels of staff, agencies, and external contacts regarding patient health care.

Minimum Qualifications

Current, valid RN license in state of practice (or temporary/interim license or compact RN licensure).

BLS certification required; additional certifications or continuing education may be required for the practice area.

One year of experience in an acute‑care hospital within the last 12 months is required; experience in NICU or related acute‑care settings is desired.

Must meet all state‑specific licensing and clearance requirements (fingerprint clearance card, driver’s license, insurance coverage, etc.) as described.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Professional certification preferred.
