The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith‑based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative communities with men, women, children, and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish.
Responsibilities
Build durable and supportive relationships to facilitate guests’ internal motivation for change and ability to attain goals.
Connect guests to internal resources such as TBM’s Residential Program and viable external resources.
Manage a caseload in addition to providing general support to guests.
Meet regularly with guests on caseload to review their Needs Assessments, make connections to internal and external resources, and follow‑up on referrals made.
Assist in scheduling appointments, identifying transportation needs, and prioritizing their efforts.
Facilitate and/or coordinate Day Center groups/classes on topics such as emotional wellness, goal setting, etc.
Collaborate with Choose Help staff in support of key program functions such as front desk operations, Day Center activities, guest check‑in and orientation, and inclement weather response.
Ensure all guest data is promptly and accurately recorded. Keep attendance records for classes/groups. Uphold a high standard of data integrity. Follow incident reporting protocol.
Schedule Tuesday‑Saturday: 10:00am‑6:30pm
Requirements
Embrace the organization’s Statement of Faith.
2 years+ experience in a relevant setting (ministry, non‑profit, or human services) with support to managers/specialists.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or other relevant field or equivalent work and education.
Case‑management fundamentals.
Administrative skills.
Proficient in Office technology.
Confidentiality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified in Mental Health First Aid.
Certified in Non‑violent Crisis Intervention.
Motivational Interviewing.
Trauma‑informed Care.
First Aid/CPR.
Naloxone Administration.
Salary: $24.04 per hour
