Summary
This position performs a variety of integrated neurological/neurosurgical and trauma critical care functions, intuitively, using the nursing process while applying a broad nursing knowledge in a caring, concerned manner.
Responsibilities
(25%) Assesses patient for physical, emotional, psych/social and family support.
(25%) Organizes and coordinates all aspects of patient care according to the patient’s real and/or perceived needs.
(25%) Evaluates patient progress by correlating patient information with nursing knowledge to determine if goals are being met according to the (25%) Consults and collaborates with members of the health care team in planning and implementing total patient care for individuals.
Demonstrates proficiency (according to hospital and unit policy and procedure) in nursing skills to carry out the patient’s plan of care.
Communicates interactions, both verbal and written, that clearly and positively accomplish desired patient care as a collaborative effort.
Educates patients and families.
Provides teaching, support and coordination of health care plans for patient and family through the acute phase of illness, as needed.
Promotes clinical knowledge development including critical thinking skills and improves strategies for comparing clinical judgment through research and continuing education.
All other duties as assigned.
Certifications and Licensures
BLS: Basic Life Support (Within 3 months of hire or transfer)
DIMC: Dysrhythmia Interpretation Man (Within 12 months of hire or transfer)
ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Within 12 months of hire or transfer)
RN: Registered Nurse (Essential True)
TCAR: Trauma Care After Resuscitation (Required within 12 Bout of hire or transfer)
TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (Within 6 months of hire; 24 months for employees on or before 12/31/2023)
CCRN certification preferred.
Required Education Education: ASSOC
Equivalent Experience: Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
Other Information Completion of orientation process as directed by the Neuro Trauma Intensive Care Unit (NTICU) nurse manager.
Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Promotes clinical knowledge development including critical‑thinking skills and improves strategies for comparing judgment through research and continuing education on the management of trauma and critical care patients.

Physical/Mental Requirements and Typical Working Conditions
Exposure to stressful situations, including public contact, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitutes.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary.ிர literal
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time; may require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material; must follow bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular and predictable attendance and remain awake.
Overall dexterity required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0‑33% of the workday) lift or carry 21‑50 lbs., frequently (34‑66% of the workday) 20 lbs., or walk/stand/push/pull… constantly 10 lbs.
