Job Summary:
The Grounds Maintenance Laborer will take care of the landscape around our buildings. Primary responsibilities include performing routine upkeep such as mowing grass, trimming shrubbery, weeding, pressure washing and sweeping walkways, and watering plants when the weather is dry. The role may involve using a variety of tools, such as a power mower or a rake, to complete duties, as well as occasional preventative maintenance on the facilities. The work requires a well‑rounded individual with several years of landscaping or cleaning experience. Our ideal candidate already has prior groundskeeping experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintain landscaping and grounds around designated areas
Mow lawns, trim weeds, and rake leaves
Prepare soil and maintain bedding
Plant and maintain flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs
Perform preventative maintenance on indoor and outdoor facilities
Clean all pedestrian surfaces and walls
Perform routine maintenance on power equipment
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficient written and oral communication skills
Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment
Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping
Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments
Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes
Excellent time management skills
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least two years of related experience required
Horticulture knowledge
Knowledge of gardening techniques
Knowledge of gardening products such as fertilizers and pesticides
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times
Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary
Ability to hear and see to meet safety requirements
Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
Must be able to successfully pass a federal, state, or local government background investigation
