POSITION TITLE: CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT
Department: Nursing
Reports to: Director of Nurses
FLSA: Non‑exempt
POSITION SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, performs individually assigned care activities for the chronically ill and technologically dependent residents based on established resident care policies and procedures. Participates in resident care as an active member of the healthcare delivery team. Specific areas of responsibility include monitoring resident vital signs, providing resident hygiene and comfort measures, assisting with medical procedures, and fulfilling nutritional and grooming needs. Provides general direct јед nursing care to assigned residents. RESPONSIBLE TO: Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Clinical Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Current California Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
Current BCLS certification
Current TST (tuberculin skin test) verification as required by state law
No prior C.N.A. Experience required – New grads welcome!
Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and providing related bedside patient care services as permitted by state regulation.
Knowledge of basic medical asepsis and standard precautions.
Willing to work rotating shifts and different units.
Ability to contribute to a patient‑centered environment.
Must be able to read, interpret and communicate in English; understand safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
Basic computer literacy or willingness to learn.
Must attend a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education programs provided by the center to maintain certification.
PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES
Interacts with customers, families, visitors, center and subsidiary personnel.
Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands‑on intervention/participation may be required.
SPECIFIC EDUCATION / VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a state‑approved certified nursing assistant program.
A minimum of a high school education or high school equivalency diploma is preferred.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients and visitors.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provides patient care in a manner conducive to safety and comfort, including assistance with activities of daily living ( რატ).
Provide and record vital signs, weights, and assistance with ambulation and transfers.
Positions patients properly, applies adaptive equipment, and cares for personal belongings.
Assists physicians and nurses with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, and nutrition tasks.
Maintains clean and orderly work environments, including patient equipment, linens, and transport areas.
Communicates promptly with nurse and staff; reports changes in patient condition or concerns.
Promotes a culture of safety and respects patients, families, and staff.
Participates in quality improvement activities and maintains confidentiality of PHI.
Stays beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet state staffing requirements.
Performs other duties as requested.
