The Golden Parks and Recreation Department is a CAPRA Accredited Parks and Recreation Department and most recently received the Gold Medal Award from the National Recreation & Parks Association (NRPA).
We are looking for qualified candidates for our Personal Trainer position. Personal Trainers are responsible for one-on-one and group training sessions with clients at the Golden Community Center.
JOB SUMMARY Counsel assigned patrons on various aspects of physical fitness and wellness.
Contact and schedule appointments with clients for one-on-one sessions.
Train clients in a safe and professional manor based on their goals.
Work with a variety of clients.
Instruct classes in weight training to teens and adults.
Issue weight room certifications to youth 12-15 years of age upon successful completion of a weight training class.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Candidates are required to have at least six months of hands-on personal training experience completed while holding a nationally recognized personal training certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, and organizational policies and procedures, professional journals, technical and related information. Ability to compose and write related correspondence including individual and group training programs and workouts. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse population groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must hold and maintain a current Personal Training certification from a nationally recognized certifying agency (i.e. ACE, ACSM). NCCA approved agencies preferred.
Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain w/in 30 days of hire.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Working knowledge of free weights, weight machines, and general fitness equipment. Basic knowledge of nutritional guidelines. Must be able to perform a body composition measuring subcutaneous fat with calipers as well as perform a bioelectrical impedance analysis. Trainers must be self-motivated and must work well independently. Works well with people of all ages and abilities.
MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED Free weights, variety of weight and cardiovascular machines, skin fold calipers and biometrical impedance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Work environment is primarily in an indoor setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
