Job Title: Sr HVAC Technician

Job Summary Perform full range of activities associated with installation and maintenance of components used in campus heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and related equipment including chilled water, refrigeration, air compressor, gas heater, air drier, fume hoods, and pumps. Regularly schedules, assigns and provides work direction to lower-level mechanics, maintenance and/or contract personnel. Ordering replacement parts, continuing education encouraged, low stress. Those nearing retirement or semi-retired encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Advanced level install, repair, replacement, operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components used in HVAC.
Perform advanced level preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
Troubleshoot advanced pneumatic, electrical, and digital controls.
Requires sourcing of HVAC related parts and materials from vendors.
May require working with specialized computer applications.
Assist in prioritizing work orders to mechanics, maintenance personnel, and contractors related to HVAC system installation and maintenance.
Operate machine tools, motor vehicles (may include forklift), hand/power tools, and refrigerant recovery.
Monthly rotational on-call and after hour duties should be anticipated.
Interact with students, faculty and staff while troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
Vocational / Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or two years college coursework.
5 years' relevant experience (such as installing and maintaining light commercial and/or institutional level HVAC systems).
Valid Georgia Driver's License.
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of chilled water and hydronic boiler systems.
Pro-press and mega-press piping repair experience a plus.
Working knowledge of water cooled and air-cooled chiller systems.
Proposed Salary 45,300 - 56,600
Salary offer will be dependent on candidate's experience and qualifications, internal equity considerations, budget availability, and salary administration guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of Automated Logic (ALC) or other DDC control programs.
Ability to read prints, drawings, and schematics via paper copies and computerized software systems.
Knowledge of automated building management systems.
Within a multi-craft environment, the position must be able to provide HVAC work direction to mechanics, maintenance workers or other crafts persons.
Position is customer facing, must have the ability to communicate with staff and faculty in work environments and students in dorm environments.
