Position Summary
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add Summer Camp Counselors to the team. These temporary, 40-hour per week positions will assist with the operations of summer day camps for kids and/or teens at Eastway Regional Recreation Center. This role provides direct supervision of campers and assists in planning and directing camp activities such as athletics, games, arts and crafts, aquatics and field trips. Incumbents may also participate in membership promotions, communicate facility policies to patrons and provide overall customer service management at the facility. The dates of this temporary employment opportunity include a mandatory orientation, staff training and Summer Camp; specific dates will be discussed during the interview process, but candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week during the summer. Essential Functions
Provide customer service and handle funds in a recreation center or park facility via telephone, email, website, social media, and in-person inquiries for information, program registrations, center usage and rentals. Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary. Enforce rules and regulations. Collect fees and registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals. Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas. Referee at various sports activities; serve as timekeeper, scorekeeper or line-person as needed. Assist with various recreational programs for all ages. Handle inquiries and complaints from the public. Assist with special events and field trips.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
No experience required. Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?:
N/A Licenses and Certifications:
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and county driving privileges; CPR/First Aid. Computer Skills:
General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

Applying classroom knowledge through hands-on activities; developing and enforcing classroom rules and safety procedures; managing multiple tasks; organizing and presenting demonstrations in area of specialization. Abilities:
