About The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated
Cost Accountant
to join our construction team. In this role, you will play a critical part in tracking project costs, preparing budgets, and ensuring financial accuracy throughout the lifecycle of our projects. This position is ideal for
entry‑to‑mid‑level candidates
who are eager to build their career in construction accounting and cost management. The ideal candidate is a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working closely with both field and office personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Tracking & Analysis: Monitor and analyze project costs including labor, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractors, and overhead expenses.
Budgeting: Collaborate with project managers to develop accurate and realistic budgets that align with project goals; track actual performance against budgets.
Reporting: Prepare and maintain weekly and quarterly job cost reports for field personnel and management.
Variance Analysis: Investigate differences between estimated and actual costs, identify variances, and recommend strategies for cost control.
Compliance: Ensure all accounting practices comply with industry regulations, tax laws, and GAAP standards.
Invoice & Payment Processing: Review and process invoices and subcontractor payment requests for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Collaboration: Partner with project managers, procurement, and other departments to gather financial data, provide insights, and support informed decision‑making.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualification and Experience Educational and experience requirements include: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required. 0‑5 years of relevant experience; construction accounting experience preferred but not required. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Experience using
CMiC's ERP accounting system
is a plus. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Must be a team player
with a positive, collaborative attitude.
