DSHS WSH Licensed Practical Nurse – Psychiatric Security Nurse We are expanding our team of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with experience in caring for individuals with behavioral health conditions. As a Psychiatric Security Nurse at Western State Hospital you will provide LPN care and safety oversight within our forensics unit. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to develop long‑term therapeutic relationships with patients, and in challenging situations you will safely and therapeutically intervene with the support of your dedicated team.

We offer a variety of scheduling opportunities, including day, swing, and night shifts, available on a full‑time and on‑call basis. Applicants may select their preferred shift schedule at the time of application. Roles performed on site at this location at least three days a week may qualify for a 5 % premium pay on top of the advertised salary. Evening and night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.

What You Will Do in This Role

Provide direct skilled nursing care to adults experiencing behavioral health issues under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Participate in treatment planning, administer medication, and implement and chart treatment interventions.

Advocate for patients’ health maintenance and clinical care by monitoring conditions that may be detrimental to the care and treatment of your patients.

Who Should Apply?

Applicants must possess a current Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Completion of safety training within 30 days of hire is required.

Leave and Holidays Full‑time and part‑time employees are entitled to paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year.

Full‑time employees who work full monthly schedules qualify for holiday compensation if they were employed before the holiday and had at least 80 non‑overtime hours during the month of the holiday, or for the entire work shift preceding the holiday.

Part‑time employees who are in pay status during the month of the holiday qualify for the holiday on a pro‑rata basis.

Sick Leave Full‑time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month. Overtime‑eligible employees or exempt employees earning less than 80 hours per month accrue sick leave prorated to the number of hours in pay status.

Vacation (Annual Leave) Full‑time employees accrue vacation leave at rates specified in WAC 357‑31‑165(1) or applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Part‑time employees accrue vacation leave on a pro‑rata basis.

Military Leave Washington State supports members of the armed forces with რს չի paid military leave per year.

Bereavement Leave Employees whose family member or household member dies, or for loss of pregnancy, are entitled to five (5) days of paid bereavement leave.
