Essential Functions
Sets up new client accounts and research studies in the Laboratory computer systems.
Keeps all current accounts active and closes all inactive accounts.
Obtains client account applications and completes credit checks before establishing new accounts.
Verifies client guarantor information.
Develops working relationships with clients and establishes new clients billing protocols.
Maintains records and files reports of client accounts.
Documents activities and keeps account notes up to date.
Reviews monthly billing statements and sends to clients.
Communicates and provides education on client registration procedures to laboratory team on a regular basis.
Monitors daily registrations and performs updates to registrations as necessary to complete all required data to file a claim.
Understands all governmental payers and HCFA guidelines.
Reviews daily edit reports, investigates, and resolves issues.
Monitors daily posting activities and performs reconciliation.
Reviews charging activities for accuracy and completeness.
Monitors client account activity and status in Laboratory Information system.
Monitors client monthly usage and identifies trends and reports to Lab Manager.
Responds timely to all customer questions regarding accounts.
Investigates all issues and follows up as necessary.
Participates in process improvement activities.
Maintains statistical information as assigned.
Exemplifies Orlando Health policy, procedures, value statements and Commitment to Excellence and Code of Conduct standards.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
Regularly interacts with the hospital financial services department and attends patient financial service department mentor meetings.
Performs additional clerical duties as follows: letters to clients, physicians, memorandums, policies/procedures, forms, and spreadsheets.
Qualifications Education/Training Associate degree in business or related field. Four (4) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the Associate’s degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section).
Maintains current knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9, HCPCS and billing claims forms.
Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets knowledge.
Licensure/Certification None.
Experience High school diploma with five (5) years experience; or associates degree with one (1) year experience in related field.
