Qualifications Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, the School Based Clinician provides direct service to staff, students, teachers, and parents of children in the BRSU or SVSU school districts, allowing on‑site consultation and service in a public‑school setting.
Responsibilities Direct Clinical Services Provides individual, family, or group counseling services to parents and children in the community or school, as needed. Identifies the mental health and behavioral needs of students; develops and implements treatment plans; conducts clinical interviews, assessments, observations, and completes clinical reports; reviews referrals from the school for students who need mental health services; and assists in providing and/or coordinating crisis services for students who need them.
Case Management / Service Coordination Makes home visits to support families, as needed; facilitates communication between agencies on behalf of the student; attends team meetings to plan and monitor services; and provides case management, collateral contact, and social support as needed.
Consultation / Education Services Provides consultation services to teachers and school personnel, as needed. Consultation can be educational or evaluative.
Clinical Record‑Keeping Initiates and maintains, in a timely and thorough manner, the wide variety of record‑keeping and administrative documentation required to account for services provided to consumers—including, but not limited to, consumer specific assessments, case services, progress notes, time sheets, schedules, and assigned periodic reports. Follows all UCS record‑keeping procedures and performs other duties as necessary.
Administrative Attends all UCS and community meetings necessary to promote coordination and communication. Follows all UCS record‑keeping procedures and performs other duties as necessary. The school‑based clinician is required to meet or exceed the billing case rate as defined under the Success Beyond Six contract. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
Experience providing services to children and families preferred.
Licensure, or on track for licensure, in Vermont as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Social Worker, or Psychologist.
Valid Driver’s License.
Computer skills: typing and navigating, Microsoft Windows literacy, email usage.
