Position Summary The successful candidate will use state‑of‑the‑art techniques to define and characterize DNA damage, including double‑stranded breaks (DSBs) in cardiac cells, and delineate the molecular mechanisms responsible for the generation and repair of DSBs in cardiac cells. The position focuses on lab‑based molecular genetics and biology.

We are looking for highly motivated and detail‑oriented candidates with a strong scientific background and technical skills to join our research team. The ideal candidate will work under close supervision of the principal investigator within a focused group of researchers in cardiovascular sciences. This postdoctoral position offers early‑career researchers the chance to gain valuable experience, develop independent research skills, learn cutting‑edge techniques, and contribute to advancing scientific knowledge in their area of expertise.

Position Key Accountabilities

Plan and conduct experiments, analyze data, and prepare publications.

Assist in training and mentoring lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.

Stay up to date with the literature and analyze the data critically.

Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels.

Possess strong written and oral communication skills.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Prepare and submit applications for post‑doctoral awards and participate in the grant application preparation with the PI and other faculty at the Center.

Hold a recent Ph.D. or equivalent in molecular genetics, biology, or a related scientific field, or be expected to complete Ph.D. training.

Be highly self‑motivated and dedicated, with a quick ability to adopt new technologies.

Minimum Education Doctoral/Terminal Degree.

Physical Requirements Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
