The Ocean Community YMCA's Westerly-Pawcatuck Branch is currently hiring Personal Trainers to join their team. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with a starting wage of $40.00 per hour. Hours are flexible and based on client needs.
Job Summary As a Personal Trainer at the YMCA, you’ll motivate, support, and guide individuals on their fitness journeys—helping them build strength, confidence, and healthier habits. You will work one‑on‑one with clients to create personalized fitness programs that reflect their goals and YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct fitness assessments and goal‑setting consultations
Design and deliver personalized workout plans
Monitor client progress and adapt programs as needed
Demonstrate safe equipment use and proper form
Provide encouragement, accountability, and respectful coaching
Maintain accurate session records and client notes
Promote YMCA programs and support a positive fitness environment
Follow all YMCA safety and health policies
Qualifications
Current
Personal Training Certification
(e.g., ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA)
Current
CPR/AED Certification
(YMCA willing to train)
Strong interpersonal and motivational skills
Ability to adapt training styles to diverse client needs and abilities
Experience in a fitness, wellness, or health‑related setting preferred
