Process Engineer - Coatings
Join the Nucor Corporation team as a Process Engineer in the Coatings Department at Ghent, KY. The role focuses on driving continuous improvement of systems, processes, and product quality within the Pickle Line and Galvanize Lines through data‑driven analysis, cross‑functional collaboration, and hands‑on problem solving.
Responsibilities
Improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance through data‑driven analysis and implementation of solutions.
Collaborate with Operations, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, and Quality teams to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and sustain improvements.
Work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including weekends and holidays as business conditions warrant.
Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline

Initiative: Proactively identifies process, quality, safety, or reliability issues without direction and owns the resolution.
Teamwork: Works effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams.
Organizing, Planning & Prioritizing Work: Focuses efforts on issues with the highest safety, quality, or business impact and meets deadlines while managing multiple projects.
Communication: Communicates clearly and professionally with all levels of the organization and explains technical concepts to operators and supervisors.
Accountability & Dependability: Holds self and others to safety, quality, and performance standards, delivering results aligned with department and company expectations.
Problem Solving & Judgment/Decision Making: Uses data and structured methods to identify root causes, evaluates multiple solutions, and selects the most effective and sustainable option.
Attention to Detail: Ensures process changes are implemented as intended and accurately analyzes process data, reports, and trends.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous pickling/galvanizing process improvement experience.
