Slitter Helper (1st shift)

The Slitter Helper is responsible for assisting the Slitter Operator maintain production to produce materials to the specifications from the customer.
Shift hours:
6:45am - 3:00pm
Job Responsibilities
Effectively communicate with previous shift on priorities
Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Load a machine payoff using an overhead hoist and thread the material through the machine initially by hand and then jogging it through the cutting press.
Selects, cleans, install spacers and knives on shafts.
Threads sheeting through slitter and verifies dimension of slit specifications.
Secures slit strips on cores, adjusts guides and roller tension, thread edge trim to scrap winder and start machine.
Observes slitting and rewinding operation and examines cut strips for flatness, wrinkles and other defects.
Will observe the machine and is required to communicate scrap, mechanical or quality issues timely.
Responsible for arranging stacking rolls according to packaging specification.
Responsible for meeting standards relating to productivity, quality and scrapԢ daily.
Filling out and submitting required paperwork daily.
Other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.
Qualifications
Comfortable standing for entire shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively
Previous manufacturing experience preferred
Previous forklift experience is preferred
2 years of experience in manufacturing facility is preferred
Excellent communication skills for this hands‑on role
Must be able to read/write/speak English
Minimum of a High School Diploma
Knowledge of equipment capability
Knowledge of equipment functions and controls
Knowledge of reporting requirements
Physical Demands
Frequently working with sharp tools, such as knives and ledgers.
Frequently lift, carry, pull, or pull materials up to 50 lbs.
Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, reach, and twist with hands and arms
Frequently use hands to grasp, manipulate, and repetitively move.
Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Work Environment
Frequently exposed to humidity and hot conditions (non‑climate‑controlled facility)
Regularly exposed to vibrations and mechanical parts.
Occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, gases, and wetness.
