Alarm Superintendent (Construction Installation)
Allied Fire Protection seeks an experienced Alarm Superintendent to lead construction and installation projects for fire alarm systems. The incumbent will oversee field teams, ensure safety compliance, manage project schedules, and maintain high customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Oversee alarm construction projects and field team members.
Ensure job sites operate within safety guidelines and perform daily JSA’s.
Prepare and set expectations for field team members, traveling to jobsites for quality checks.
Coordinate technicians and administrative staff to ensure timely, efficient execution of all projects.
Schedule new orders/accounts and manage accurate back‑office close‑out procedures.
Follow up on repair items noted on inspection reports with quotations.
Forecast service manpower requirements and materials.
Perform or review documents for billing processes.
Assist with financial‑related issues as assigned.
Represent the company at various functions professionally.
Recruit, develop, train, and empower associates to excel in the business.
Understand permitting requirements or local authorities.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Believe in, live, and support our mission statement, core values, and business plan daily.
Set the example for safety first; start each meeting with a safety topic.
Ensure timely and accurate incident and accident reporting; complete JSAs, toolbox talks, audit forms, etc. in a timely manner.
Complete monthly jobsite visits and observations.
Hold team accountable for all safety initiatives and safe driving of company vehicles.
Communicate effectively and professionally within the department and with internal and external customers.
Follow HR and safety initiatives and processes.
Input and develop training requirements; commit to training at all levels.
Manage timesheets – job numbers, OT, travel pay, approvals, and payroll submission.
Ensure all necessary documentation is provided to properly complete jobs (scope sheet, budget, material list, design/sketches).
Oversee and manage inventory system; optimize material purchasing, PO SOP adherence, pick ticket review, and submittals.
Maximize production efficiency—labor hours, scheduling, right manpower—to meet quality standards.
Support and enforce all company SOPs – purchase orders, change orders, accounting processes, subcontractor agreements.
Participate in budget vs. actual job costing meetings for improvement opportunities.
Ensure work tickets are submitted timely and professionally with all required documentation.
Participate in weekly team meetings and update status on all jobs (materials, equipment rentals, subcontractors, intercompany jobs).
Review reports; ensure customer satisfaction and discuss survey feedback for improvements.
Maintain quality control to reduce return trips and warranty work.
Promote teamwork and maintain positive interactions across departments and offices.
Knowledge
Minimum education: High School Diploma or Equivalent; some secondary education desirable.
Working knowledge of materials, tools, equipment, and procedures used in the installation of fire protection systems, and familiarity with applicable NFPA standards.
Work Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in all aspects of fire alarm installation, service, and inspections required; 10 or more years preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Ability to take direction from upper management.
Accurate completion and maintenance of all paperwork.
Maintenance of vehicle and tools per company policy.
Valid state driver’s license with a good driving record.
Knowledge of NFPA 72 rules and related codes.
Professional and positive communication with trades, customers, project managers, county officials, and general contractors.
Teamwork and leadership skills – mentor associates.
Clean and safe work environment; compliance with all safety practices and handbook.
Timely completion of projects with high quality and customer satisfaction.
