Job Purpose In keeping a tradition of excellence, a Teacher Pre‑Kindergarten in the Rankin County School District helps students learn requiredდებოდა subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, capable, responsible, and successful students.

Duties and Responsibilities

All teaching staff and program administrators complete at least fifteen contact hours of professional development annually for program instructional staff specific to the education of pre‑kindergarten children.

Meet and instruct assigned classes at the assigned school and at times designated by Principal.

Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.

Lessons are aligned to standards and represent a coherent sequence of learning.

Lessons have high levels of learning for all students.

Assist students in taking responsibility for learning and monitoring student learning.

Provide multiple ways for students to make meaning of content.

Manage a classroom community focused on learning; create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.

Create and maintain a classroom of respect for all students.

Engage in professional learning and possess a growth mindset.

Establish and maintain effective communication with families/guardians.

Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of Principal.

Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and communicate clear objectives to students.

Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with location limitations andTu student needs.

Implement the district’s philosophy of education, goals, and objectives%i through instruction and action.

Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and provide progress reports as assigned.

Identify and report potential learning disabilities regularly and provide required progress reports.

Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.

Assist the administration in implementing student life and conduct policies and, in the classroom, develop reasonable rules of conduct, maintaining order fairly.

Make provision to be available to students and parents outside instructional hours when required or requested under reasonable terms.

Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers and evaluate their performance cooperatively with department heads.

Strive to maintain and improve professional competence by attending training sessions and classes as required.

Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.

Maintain and accept responsibility for district‑owned fixed assets and ensure appropriate use.

Undergo periodic evaluations in accordance with state and board policy.

Maintain confidentiality.

Regular, timely, and dependable in‑person attendance is an essential function of this position.

Perform other duties as requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, or as established by policy and regulations.

Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in Educationengin or higher.

Certification: Hold a Mississippi Teaching Credential (Pre‑K/K 153).

Other Requirements: Required references and background check.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to perform this job. The employee must talk and hear frequently, stand, walk, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, reach, and lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Vision requires close vision.

Work environment is the active school campus inside and outside facilities. Noise level is usually low to moderate, occasionally high.
