Job Summary The Payroll Tax Analyst & Garnishment Specialist ensures the accuracy and compliance of multi‑state payroll taxes, maintains unemployment (SUI) rate data, and oversees quarterly and annual tax reconciliations and filings. This role also leads the processing of court‑ordered deductions—including child support, tax levies, and bankruptcy orders—while managing the payroll platform garnishment module and ensuring timely and accurate disbursements to agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Manage multi‑state payroll tax setup, maintenance, and compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.

Maintain and update SUI (State Unemployment Insurance) rates and ensure accurate application.

Reconcile quarterly and annual payroll tax filings, supporting audits and correcting discrepancies as needed.

Monitor tax notices, resolve agency inquiries, and ensure accurate remittance and reporting.

Validate tax data within payroll systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Process child support orders, tax levies, creditor garnishments, and bankruptcy deductions.

Manage all garnishment activity within the payroll system garnishment module, including setup, processing, and terminations.

Ensure timely and accurate agency payments and responses to wage order requests.

Communicate with employees regarding garnishment questions while maintaining confidentiality.

Partner with legal, HR, and payroll teams on compliance requirements and complex cases.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of experience in payroll tax administration and/or garnishment processing within a multi‑state environment.

Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and wage garnishment regulations.

Experience reconciling quarterly and annual tax filings (e.g., Forms 941, W‑2, SUI filings).

Hands‑on experience with ADP Workforce Now or a similar enterprise payroll system, including tax and garnishment modules.

Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to interpret court orders and agency notices accurately.

Excellent communication and customer‑service skills, with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a professional services, multi‑entity, or large‑scale payroll environment.

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data validation).

Familiarity with agency portals and tax research resources.
