Position Overview This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the H2O America’s groundwater treatment facilities, in accordance with the needs of company personnel and customers. This role operates with a high level of professionalism and in a regulatory compliant manner. This role works collaboratively with other leaders within the organization to ensure seamless and efficient provision of services to customers.

Key Responsibilities

Supports local leadership with all water treatment operations and maintenance activities, chemical and equipment orders, plant records, sampling programs, and laboratory water quality analyses.

Develops, schedules, tracks and directs staff to execute operational activities that ensure the optimal performance of facilities in compliance with the most stringent water quality regulations.

Leads water treatment personnel to develop unity, consistency and collaboration across the Company’s groundwater plants and other company departments.

Provides coaching and recommendations regarding training, promotions, transfers, new hires/terminations, and wage adjustments.

Prepares and manages the annual Operations & Maintenance (O&M) budget for the department.

Reviews monthly transaction reports and variances, recommending corrective actions as needed.

Initiates and manages capital and corrective work orders, purchase orders, and vendor invoice approvals.

Collects, analyzes, and evaluates treatment process data under routine and emergency situations.

Assesses chemical treatment needs to maintain compliance, determines feeder settings, and monitors equipment performance and reliability for process optimization.

Leads administration of the Department’s annual maintenance contracts and the procurement of goods and services.

Collaborates closely with the Facilities Manager to coordinate facilities maintenance activities necessary to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the company’s treatment and related distribution assets.

Builds and maintains relationships with relevant stakeholders, staff, and local officials as needed.

Manages treatment and process improvement projects as assigned and provides operational assistance to other departments in support of the Company’s Capital Expense Program.

Assures facilities are compliant with state and federal drinking water regulations and applies principles and practices to uphold both state and local public health codes.

Promotes and ensures a safe work environment by ensuring adherence to all safety protocols, including those outlined in the Company Safety Manual, OSHA regulations, and other governing bodies.

This position requires frequent handling of water treatment chemicals and the use of respiratory protection, and frequent work in confined spaces. Participation in the Company’s Annual HAZWOPER, Qualitative Fit Test, Confined Space and Fall Protection Programs required.

Responds to operational emergencies on a 24/7 basis.

Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and/or 10+ years of experience with progressively increased levels of responsibility, preferably in leadership positions.

Valid Driver’s License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.

Holds valid TCEQ Groundwater Class B Treatment Operator License.

Water Distribution certification preferred.

Holds relevant certifications required for the team’s need or directed by management.

Experience leading and directing the work of teams and employees engaged in groundwater treatment and maintenance.

Deep knowledge of the operation of groundwater infrastructure.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Proficiency with Asset Management and/or Budgeting Software desired.

Must maintain a high level of proficiency of industry regulations (OSHA, EPA, EPH, or DEEP).

Proficiency in leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to serve as an escalation point during high-impact incidents.

Ability to participate in physical activities including lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions, as well as using heavy weight tools and materials.
