QUALIFICATIONS
Post‑secondary diploma/certificate in office administration or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum one year experience in a hospital diet office or hospital food services mandatory
Experience with CBORD Food Service Suite required
Ontario Hospital Association’s Food Management Certificate is an asset
Basic skill level is required for MS Word, Excel and typing
Clerical testing may be required as part of the selection process
Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic diets, common hospital diet restrictions, food allergies, etc
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required
Must be able to handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions
Must be able to set own priorities and work with minimal supervision
Good work performance and a good attendance record are essential
RESPONSIBILITIES
Enters STAR diet orders, allergies and food preferences into Food Service Suite software in a timely and accurate manner
Checks for accuracy and diet compliance of mealtrays during beltline assembly (requires standing in a refrigerated meal assembly area)
Adjusts meal trays in a refrigerated storage area. Requires pushing and pulling carts
Checks inventory in refrigerator and freezer areas
Confers with Registered Dietitians and/or Dietetic Assistants regarding diet changes, substitutions and conflicting orders. Works closely with Food Service Supervisors and Food Service Helpers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of meals and nutritional supplies
Responds to and follows up with telephone calls and computer messages regarding patient menus, diet changes, tray assembly and delivery
Prints and collates patient menus and tray tickets for Charlton and West 5th campuses
Prints production tallies, meal service notes, diet order screening, diet change and other reports for Charlton and West 5th campuses
Other printing functions as required for department
Obtains food preferences and/or menus from patients and enters data in Food Service Suite
Maintains statistics for inpatient and outpatient meal/bulk supplies using Excel spreadsheet; ensures department office andDK paper supplies are ordered in a timely manner;regular purchases invoices as per department guidelines
Provides support throughout the department as required
