The Category Manager for Human Resources is responsible for developing and executing category strategies that deliver value, mitigate risk, and align with the HR team business objectives. This role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills to optimize supplier relationships and ensure compliance with procurement policies. The Category Manager will lead sourcing initiatives, manage contracts, and drive continuous improvement across HR subcategories, such as recruiting, temp labor, screening and other staff augmentation services.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy: Conduct spend analysis and market research to develop long-term strategies aligned with business goals. Own category strategy and identify projects that drive value and innovation.

Supplier Relationship Management: manage SRM frameworks to enhance supplier performance and collaboration. Drive innovation and set clear agendas for subcategories and suppliers.

Negotiation & Contract Management: Lead complex negotiations, balancing cost, quality, and relationship goals.

Manage RFPs and sourcing events using tools like Ariba.

Contract & Risk Management: Negotiate favorable terms while maintaining strong supplier relationships. Review complex contracts, ensure compliance, and manage lifecycle activities.

Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders. Align sourcing strategies with business needs while adhering to procurement policies. Communicate proactively about risks, timelines, and deliverables.

Cost optimization Management: Lead savings initiatives and ensure accurate tracking and reporting.

Data Analysis & Reporting: Use tools such as Excel and Power BI to extract insights and support decision-making.

Process & System Optimization: Guide stakeholders on procurement systems and processes.

Negotiation: Secures favorable terms aligned with stakeholder needs.

Communication: Tailors messaging for different audiences; communicates clearly and effectively.

Problem Solving: Identifies root causes and proposes validated solutions.

Adaptability: Adjusts strategies quickly in response to market or organizational changes.

Initiative: Identifies improvement opportunities and prioritizes effectively.

Accountability: Trusted to lead projects independently.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP & procurement systems, RFP processes, and data analytics tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).

5+ years of experience in procurement or category management.

Strong knowledge of sourcing strategies, contract, and supplier risk management.

Advanced Excel and experience with Power BI; familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., JDE
