The Role Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical Sports broad from laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in the performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to Gomez assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. The SSNX program is seeking an Engineering Technician 4 to join the Ao (Operational Availability) team. Ao is one of the four tenants of the SSNX program that seeks to ensure the fleet experiences less downtime and fewer maintenance availabilities through improved reliability of components, improved maintainability, and improved sustainability. This is an opportunity to get involved at the beginning of a new submarine design and to influence what will become the Navy’s premier attack submarine platform.
Responsibilities \avidli> Engage with shipyards, customers, and other stakeholders to collect feedback for design incorporation.
Lead research and development studies to influence the future of U.S. Navy submarines.
Be flexible with work assignments and perform duties outside of traditional discipline work scope.
Lead cross‑functional teams through Ao design evaluations and collaborate with designers and engineers to incorporate Ao design principles.
Resolve complex spatial integration issues while meeting system and overall ship requirements.
Challenge design decisions that deviate from standard practice to realize lifecycle cost improvements.
Prepare to work in a collaborative and fast‑paced environment.
Adapt and adjust to support annual objectives.
Must Have
Associate’s Degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
One of the following may be used as equivalent to an Associate’s Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
NNS Apprentice School graduate.
Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate.
High School/GED and 2 years of:[''] related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience.
High School/GED and 4 years of non‑related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience.
Nice to Have
Knowledge and experience with modern Submarine (688/VCS/Seawolf/Trident) systems and other Navy platforms for contrast.
Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) operational and maintenance experience for submarines and aircraft carriers.
Experience working with Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) and General Dynamics Electric Boat (EB).
Extensive knowledge of U.S. Navy submarine systems, requirements, system integration and arrangement best practices.
Experience in equipment/component lifecycle and reliability.
Corrective and preventative maintenance experience.
Project management experience and/or PMP certification.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and lead teams.
Experience with navigating Navy 3‑M OARS data systems as well as other maintenance related programs.ामी>
