LEAD RN – OUTPATIENT SERVICES ACCOUNTABILITY Clinic Manager

JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision of a Clinic Manager, provides professional nursing services in accordance with medical protocols. Participates as a member of the clinical treatment team and offers guidance on matters related to nursing treatment and health related matters. Provides direct nursing services and clinical education services to clients and their families/significant others. Assists in assuring quality nursing services across the outpatient programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PERFORMS DIRECT NURSING CARE SERVICES AND/OR CLINICAL EDUCATION TO CLIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES/SIGNIFICANT OTHERS.

Performs nursing assessments of clients to determine current status of client and acts to perform needed interventions based on results of that assessment.

Documents results of assessments and formulates nursing interventions according to assessment results.

Performs venipuncture and other CLIA-waived testing, including urine drug testing and breathalyzer, etc.

Ensures physician/APRN orders are responded to in a timely manner.

Facilitates collection of laboratory specimens to include ensuring proper completion of the receiving facilities’ requisition form.

Demonstrates knowledge of normal and abnormal lab values.

Measures and records client vital signs including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.

Completes other health screenings such as HIV Screening, TB Screening, COVID-19 Screening, etc.

Coordinates medical and psychiatric care with community providers, ensuring appropriate referral, documentation, and follow-up from consultations.

In absence of a physician or advanced practice nurse, assumes leadership role in medical emergency, providing direction to other team members and making decisions regarding additional emergency care as dictated by agency policies and procedures.

Provides health related training/education for clients and families as indicated by assessments or at treatment team request. Facilitates health education groups as needed.

PROVIDES CLINICAL SUPERVISION TO ASSIGNED LPN STAFF AND GUIDANCE TO OTHER RN OUTPATIENT NURSING STAFF

Provides guidance and oversight to other nurses related to their nursing care of clients.

Provides clinical supervision for Licensed Professional Nursing staff, as assigned.

Delegates or follows through with assignments to promote safe and optimal care of the client and the other staff.

Works with the nursing staff and Clinic Managers to assure staffing coverage at each site meets site needs, including that each outpatient site has 10 hours of RN coverage each week. Assists in coordinating coverage when nurses are out on leave or when positions are vacant.

ENSURES OPTIMAL LEVELS OF COMMUNICATION WITH AND BETWEEN STAFF AND OTHER CUSTOMERS.

Exhibits clear and professional communication with other staff at all times.

Communicates information clearly to physicians and to other providers to ensure optimal client care, including any adverse reactions to medications.

Effectively communicates to families, other Claratel programs, and/or community partners (hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and other behavioral health providers) as needed to promote client care, staff functioning, or business processes.

Contributes professional nursing knowledge in all client or program activities.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT

In coordination with the Medical Director, assists in monitoring of nursing quality metrics and provides technical assistance to outpatient nurses related to nursing quality metrics.

Provides monitoring of nursing audit results and works with nursing staff to assure documentation is accurate and meets clinical standards. Provides education and training for nurses on all aspects of nursing documentation.

Assists the Chief Clinical Officer and Medical Director in determining additional training needs for outpatient nursing staff and works with the Staff Development Department and Medical Director to ensure that such training needs are addressed.

Acts as a subject matter expert for outpatient nursing staff development including providing new hire onboarding nursing orientation and training and in-service training.

Acts as a subject matter expert for electronic health record improvements and changes for the outpatient nursing team. Works with IT and clinical leadership in development and implementation of the improvements and changes.

SKILL, COMPETENCY AND EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the state of Georgia. Ability to perform venipuncture and medication injections. Must possess basic computer and typing skills. Ability to use an electronic health record. Prior experience working with behavioral health.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS Able to professionally interface with clients, families, and caregivers with a recovery-focused and trauma-informed approach. Able to communicate effectively with co-workers at multiple sites, internal and external customers and the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS Works in an office-based outpatient clinic setting Monday – Friday 8:15am – 5:00pm with some evening hours (as determined by clinic needs). Works at various outpatient sites across the agency. Position is 60% clinical care and 40% administrative.

NEEDED ATTRIBUTES Must be well-organized and client-focused with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be able to provide direction to other staff in emergency situations (behavioral and medical).
