Job Summary The Buyer II will be responsible for daily purchasing tasks including maintaining stock levels, viewing open purchase requisitions, creating POs, building supplier relationships, following up on open orders, and providing customer updates on outstanding purchase orders. The Buyer II will use best practices and experience to ensure that the company is getting the best prices possible and optimum order quantities. Also, monitor performance of the suppliers to ensure attainment of objectives in quality, delivery, service and cost. The Buyer II will investigate recurring problems with suppliers or materials, and act as an escalation point for the Buyer I. The Buyer II will help to implement strategic sourcing events and process implementation, building and maintaining supplier relationships, and engaging in discussions with vendors to improve on-time deliveries and communication.

Responsibilities

Create POs to vendors

Open PO Report

Follow up with vendor if past delivery date

Update Item Records

Update POs and resend to vendor

Handle CSR Requests

Provide Tracking/shipment POD

Update Shipping dates

Expedite POs

PO Acknowledgement

Own supplier relationships

Assist in strategic sourcing process implementation

Project management with cross‑functional teams with the goal of cost reduction/innovation

Lead, develop and mentor parts purchasing team

Responsible for developing the team operating model, assisting hiring and staffing models, monitoring workflow and establishing/evaluating goal achievement

Lead the team to develop process improvements

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Associate degree in Supply Chain, a related field or equivalent experience

Minimum of 2‑5 years’ related work experience

Basic Skill Requirements

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

Description of Work Environment and Working Conditions The employee works in an indoor/outdoor plant environment that is not climate‑controlled. Noise level is usually moderate. Eye protection is mandatory; hearing protection and dust mask may be required in identified areas.

Physical Demands Stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger; handle or feel objects; use tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
